Located within 1km from Hotel Tapas, Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred temples for Hindus all over the world. It is dedicated to the Lord Shiva and located on the banks of Bagmati River. Every year many number of tourists visit this holy temple. Only followers of Hinduism can enter the main temple, but all the other buildings are available for foreigners to visit. From the Eastern bank of the river the main temple can be seen in its whole beauty. It is also enlisted in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Bouddhanath
Located within 5 km from Hotel Tapas, Kathmandu Durbar Square is the cultural, religious and artistic reflection of Kathmandu. The house of the living goddess(Kumari) is also next to the palace(Durbar).The complex has a fine display of woodcarving and pagoda architecture. The palace cortyard is open to tourists and during office hours one can visit and take a picture of the gurkha soldier in his traditional uniform. Durbar Square is surrounded with spectacular architecture and vividly showcases the skills of the Newar artists and craftsmen over several centuries. The Royal Palace was originally at Dattaraya square and was later moved to the Durbar square.
